A look at Brisket’s Backyard and Rigby’s Run
Brisket's Backyard isn't just my backyard. It’s a thoughtfully designed space for pet photography that is both beautiful and private. Here you don’t have to worry about sharing the space with random strangers and other dogs like you would at a public park.
Not only is Brisket’s backyard a convenient and private location option for your pet’s photoshoot with me, but it’s continually transforming. Purposely created to provide interest in every season which means we can shoot year-round. It allows us to have a variety with a minimal amount of walking, which makes it especially well-suited for End of Life sessions.

The deck and main backyard is fully fenced with a 4 foot fence, giving dogs a safe place to run and play off-leash.
Just beyond the fence is Rigby’s Run: a tranquil little creek with a small waterfall and bridge crossing over to the other side. Rigby’s Run is one of the many charming spots that makes Brisket's Backyard so unique.

No More Worrying About The Weather
Weather in Ohio can be unpredictable. When photographing in a park, there’s no back-up for bad weather; you just have to reschedule when it’s rainy. But for End-of-Life sessions, you may not have the luxury of rescheduling for another time.
With Brisket’s Backyard, we have a built-in back up plan—my home studio! If we get rained on, we can simply go inside and continue our session there.
No rescheduling, no constantly checking the weather forecast—just peace of mind knowing we’re going to capture gorgeous photos rain or shine.
Especially Suited for End-of-Life Pet Photography Sessions
For senior pets, dogs with mobility impairments, end of life, or pups that are reactive or anxious, photographing in Brisket’s Backyard makes your experience worry-free. There’s no stairs to navigate, no long distances to walk, and you don’t have to worry about figuring out the parking situation or navigating crowds.
Comfort is a top priority for your pet’s End of Life session. Brisket’s Backyard is shaded by the canopy of old growth trees, which helps to keep you and your pet cool. (And your dog is always welcome to splash in the creek).
End of Life Pet Photography sessions can be emotional. Here you don’t have to share the space with anyone else. You and your dog have the time and privacy for us to capture meaningful memories without feeling social pressure to “keep it together” because you’re in a public place.
The Story Behind Brisket’s Backyard
When I bought this house, I did it for my dogs.
After renting for 15 years and working 2 jobs the whole time to make it happen, I was finally able to give our dogs, Brisket and Rigby, the yard they deserved. I imagined all the time we would spend together and the meaningful memories we’d create playing ball, splashing in the creek, soaking up the sun on the deck, and doing photoshoots together in this new place.
Then, just 3 weeks after moving into the our new house, Brisket unexpectedly passed away. 3 weeks after that, Rigby passed away too.
After Brisket’s sudden passing I made a point to do my own End of Life photos with Rigby in our back yard while he was still feeling good. I’m so glad we were able to do this, as he passed away 3 days later. Looking back at this quiet moment brought me some comfort and peace after losing him.
In the wake of their passing, I wanted to honor Rigby and Brisket by creating a beautiful memorial garden as a tribute to their legacy.
My boys passed away in the fall, at the end of the growing season, so alI could do was plant something for the spring and cross my fingers that they survived the winter. I started with 100 tulip bulbs in the hope that they’d bring me a much-smile after a hard winter full of grief.
Well they more than survived. They flourished. But it was when I was photographing our new puppy, Lando, in front of the tulips that I realized how special this place was. The tulips almost felt like a sign sent from Rigby and Brisket saying “yes, please share this beautiful place so other dogs can enjoy it too”. And thus, Brisket’s Backyard was born.
