Brisket’s Back Yard: A Beautiful, Private Photography Location Made for Dogs

When I bought this house, I did it for my dogs.

After renting for my whole life, I wanted to be able to finally give our dogs Brisket and Rigby the yard they deserve so they could run, explore, and simply enjoy being dogs. I imagined all the time we would spend here together and the meaningful memories we’d create.

Then, just 3 weeks after buying the house, Brisket unexpectedly passed. 3 weeks after that, Rigby passed away too. We were left with a beautiful back yard I worked so hard to give them, and no dogs to enjoy it.

Losing both of my dogs back-to-back was absolutely devastating. I wasn't entirely sure what this place would become, but then it came to me—making a beautiful memorial garden would be a wonderful way to honor their legacy. I started working on the yard. Planting. Landscaping. Building. Creating little vignettes and beautiful backdrops perfect for photoshoots. And somewhere along the way, I realized I was creating something I wanted to share with other dogs as well.

Brisket's Backyard isn't just my backyard. It’s a thoughtfully crafted space that I'm continually transforming specifically to create a beautiful, varied, and private place for dog photography sessions.

Every part of the property offers something a little different, whether your dog is energetic and adventurous or would rather take things slowly and enjoy a quiet afternoon outside.

A Quiet Space for You and Your Dog

One of my favorite things about photographing dogs here is the privacy.

The main backyard is fully fenced with a 4 foot fence, giving dogs a secure space to move around, play, and explore off-leash. Just beyond the fenced yard is additional space offering a beautiful park-like setting.

There's a creek running through the property, complete with a bridge crossing over it—one of the many little spots that makes Brisket's Backyard unique and creates opportunities for photographs you can't get in busy park or your own back yard.

Especially meaningful for end-of-life sessions

Brisket's Backyard is particularly well suited for end-of-life and senior dog photography sessions.

These sessions can be emotional, and sometimes bringing your dog to a busy park or public location can feel overwhelming when you’re already dealing with a highly emotional time. Here, there are no crowds and no pressure to share the space with anyone else. You and your dog can have the time and privacy to simply be together.

For dogs who are older, mobility-limited, reactive, or anxious, having a location like this can also make the experience easier. We can move slowly, take breaks whenever they're needed, and let your dog set the pace. Plus there’s no steps, no long distances to walk, and you can park just a few feet away from the entrance.

A Backyard for Dogs to Enjoy

I wish Brisket, and all of my dogs, could have seen what this place is becoming. I think they’d be proud of all the work that has gone into making it a beautiful spot.

While they’re not here to enjoy the space, something feels right about seeing other dogs run through the grass, splash in the creek, or relaxing with their people.
