Dog Adoption Photo Shoot: Ed and Ellie in Columbus, Ohio by Holly Hildreth

Congratulations to Ed and Ellie who were recently adopted into the same amazing family! Their new family came to me for a fun "Gotchya Day” photo shoot to celebrate finalizing their adoption. Both of these sweet pups' stories tugged at my heart strings.

Ellie: From Toyless to Treasure Keeper

When Ellie the yellow lab was picked up from her previous owner, her new family was told she wasn’t interested in toys—and she had never even had one. Can you imagine? Fast forward to today, Ellie is all about her toys! She loves them so much that she carries one with her everywhere she goes. (I made sure to snap a picture as adorable proof that she’s making up for lost time!)

Ed: One Senior Dog’s Journey Home

Ed ended up at the shelter after his owner passed away. The future was not looking so great for this deaf 13 year old senior. That is until an amazing foster family stepped in and gave him a nice place to crash while he went through heartworm and Lyme disease treatment. His foster family fell in love with his gentle and loving demeanor, and they knew he was right where he was meant to be, so made things official by adopting him.

I am so happy that Ed and Ellie hit the jackpot with their new family, and will spend the rest of their days living like the king and queen they are.

Columbus Commercial Dog Photography - Envious Borzoi by Holly Hildreth

I have always wanted to photograph a Borzoi, so when a commercial client requested a few Borzoi images, I was ecstatic to have the opportunity to finally photograph such gorgeous dogs! But you don't exactly see these Russian wolfhounds walking down the street every day, so that's why I put out a model call! Luckily I found Envious Borzoi who so kindly made the drive out from Dayton with 4 Borzoi in tow. Their dogs are simply gorgeous, super friendly, and wonderful ambassadors of the breed. During our session, we had lots of people walking by that stopped and asked to pet these beautiful pups and we even unintentionally started to draw a little crowd at one point. But that didn't stop these beautiful sighthounds from being great doggy models for me. We got so many fabulous shots during their session that it was hard to narrow it down for the sneak peek!

We had our session in one of the gardens at Whetstone Park of Roses in Clintonville. This park is always a sure bet when it comes to having loads of seasonal color. If you’re interested in setting up a session for your pups, please reach out via my contact page.

Columbus Ohio End of Life Pet Photography Session - Rajah by Holly Hildreth

I’ve known Miss Rajah for years, as her owner is a good friend of mine. In fact, this beautiful brindle ball of sweetness had play dates with my oldest corgi, Rigby, when HE was just a tiny puppy. When Rajah received some unfortunate health news, her owner asked if I would do a session with her in the time she had left. The answer was an enthusiastic “YES!!!”

Rajah is, and always has been, one of the Good Ones. I wanted to make sure I captured her sweet, incredibly laid-back personality. Rajah is more of a “lay in the sun” rather than “go for a run” kinda girl, (which…SAME). Rajah has lived an amazing life so far. Since Covid hit, Rajah and her owners have been road tripping all across the US in their camper van. I think Rajah has been able to pee in more states than any other dog I know.

We had Rajah’s session at Clintonville’s Park of Roses, which is absolutely bursting with color this time of year. We took a nice stroll around the park, taking advantage of the gorgeous backgrounds as we went. At the end we got a nice, subtle sunset. A perfect session ending for such a perfect girl.

End of Life Pet Photography sessions are such an incredibly valuable gift that you can give yourself and your loved ones. I keep time reserved in my schedule every week specifically for cases like this where owners aren’t sure how much time their dog has left and/or are dealing with tough decisions around the declining health of their best friend. If you find yourself in this situation and would like to book your own End of Life Pet Photo shoot, Contact me today .

One regret I hear over and over from clients is not booking a shoot soon enough. They figured they have plenty of time and plan to eventually book something later on, but their beloved furry family member passes away before they get around to contacting me. While I can always do a shoot that accommodates your dog wherever they are health and ability-wise, many folks prefer doing a session while their dog is still happy, alert, and mobile, as they want to remember their friend’s spirit while they’re still acting like themselves. I HIGHLY recommend doing your shoot sooner rather than later, as we never really know how much time we have with our pets. Columbus, Ohio Pet Photography Session - Twix and Tanner the Mini Poodles by Holly Hildreth

Twix and Tanner the miniature poodles came to me for a summer sunset session at Clintonville's Whetstone Park of Roses. The park is in full bloom right now, which makes for some amazing, colorful backdrops! Park of Roses is one of my favorite parks, as there are so many great spots to shoot here, so you can get lots of different looks.

Just a reminder: if you book a pet photo shoot with me in July ‘22, a portion of your session fee will be donated to Stop the Suffering Animal Rescue of Ohio. I have one opening remaining, so if you'd like to get your dog in for a photo shoot, send me a message today!
